We made our own corn nuts. We used a very simple recipe and tried to use our glass gem corn kernels. We love eating corn nuts as a snack. Next time we are going to try different kernels and bake them.
We decide to try and compare popcorn that we grew from our garden versus name brand from the grocery stores. We used the scientific method to completely compare the differences. The results were clear as day.
Glass Gem corn is not made for popping like other brands. In the end we used a stir crazy pop corn maker to quickly pop the corn. If you want to know how to make popcorn then use a stir crazy popcorn maker and you will not be disappointed. I love all kinds of pop corn and even kettle corn.

Recipe to make Orange Sherbet Ice Cream. This recipe requires only 2 simple ingredients to make this super summer time treat.
To make our orange version of sherbet, combine 1 can of sweetened condensed milk and 1 two liter of orange soda in an ice cream maker.
Mix for 20-30 Minutes. Enjoy

On this episode we made some homemade salsa from our tomatoes from our urban garden. We had a canning party with three generations of family members. If you like to can have a canning party with family and friends it makes the process easier and fun. The kids cut up the tomatoes and onions with a vidalia chopper. I and grandpa did all the un-kid friendly duties. The recipe that we used is below.
8 Cups Tomatoes, Peeled, Chopped and drained
2 1/2 Cups onions, Chopped
10 Jalapeno Peppers
6 Garlic Cloves, Minced
2 Teaspoons Cumin
2 Teaspoons Black Pepper
2 Tablespoons Canning Salt
1/3 Cup Sugar
1/3 Cup Vinegar
1. Mix all together and bring to boil for 10 minutes.
2. Seal in jars and cook in hot water for 10 minutes.
3. Yields about 5 pints.
