A chat with a Master Gardener – Gardening Interview

Today the crew went out and helped Copasetic Kid work on his new knife shop and got to meet a River Valley Master Gardener, Bob Watson. We got to learn the basics of any new gardener and what you have to do to become a Master Gardener. Bob is 5 year veteran of the program. He talked to me off camera about all kinds of great information to use in my up coming garden this season. If you live in Arkansas you need lime in your soil.

Sweatin To The Veggies

Before going out into your garden and plant your veggies, it’s very important to stretch your muscles.

This is the most important tip that every gardener regardless of age needs to know. With spring in the air and the nervous anticipation to sow your seeds in the ground, you shouldn’t rush right into things. Most gardeners have been coupe up in the house for 4-5 months and you need to easy back in to the swing of spring.

We are going to teach you 5 simple exercises to help stretch your muscles in a few minutes to help prevent you from getting that strain or pulled muscle while out in the this season. Also when your doing any strenuous garden work during the heat , take many breaks, Rome wasn’t built in a day neither should your garden.

Stretch 1
Lateral Stretch

Stretch 2
Back Bend

Stretch 3
The Twister

Stretch 4
Lunges

Stretch 5
Neck Crank

Don’t over do it and listen to your body while your doing these exercises.

Do each of the exercises for about 30 seconds each.

Before doing any strenuous activities consult with a physician.

Tater Plantin

Today the kids were invited to help plant taters at Copasetickid’s garden. The kids loved getting out in the Real Country and enjoying nature at its finest. We made out way to the countryside like gang busters and immediately got to work. We knocked out those taters with much haste and got to enjoy homemade soup for our hard work.

Gardening with kids and beginners

On our channel you will find lots of information about gardening, composting, greenhouses, germination, cooking vegetables, and a whole slew of other things that we think you will find interesting.

All the activities you will see on our channel will be kid friendly and family orientated.

We feel that families should spend more time out in the garden and enjoying nature than sitting in front of the computer vegging out.

Also the education of gardening is a life long skill that should be handed down to generation to generation, and healthy eating starts in the garden not in a supermarket.

We hope that you will subscribe and join us a couple times a week while explore together the art of gardening.

Donates Container Gardens To Local School. Pay It Forward.

After posting a video about Growums on YouTube a few weeks ago. The founder contacted me and wanted to thank me for the video and use my kids’ video in some of their productions. I was ecstatic and floored. I also receive 2 free Growums: Garden In A Boxes in the mail from the owner himself. WOW, not many companies reach out to their fan base like this. Well I really wanted to use them , but I asked the kids and they said that they wanted to give it to their schools. So we donated them to King Elementary and Parkview Elementary. We Paid It Forward!

How To Make A Garden Scare Crow

Scare Crow
Alex Buttercup

In this DIY project, I helped the kids build a Cool Scare Crow. We 1st started off at the local 2nd hand shop where we picked up the clothes. We found a old pair of overalls, button up flannel shirt, hat and sunglasses.  I had some old 1 by 4 boards laying around to build the cross that would hold him up.  Just a little elbow grease, fun, and persistence and you can build anything. The project is super easy to do and the kids loved it. They even came up with the name Alex Buttercup. I tried to make this project completely about them and let them do as much as possible so they would feel ownership in the scare crow.  The whole project was a success. See the video below to make your own.
