Glass Gem Popcorn

We decide to try and compare popcorn that we grew from our garden versus name brand from the grocery stores. We used the scientific method to completely compare the differences. The results were clear as day.

Glass Gem corn is not made for popping like other brands. In the end we used a stir crazy pop corn maker to quickly pop the corn. If you want to know how to make popcorn then use a stir crazy popcorn maker and you will not be disappointed. I love all kinds of pop corn and even kettle corn.

We used coconut on our popcorn recipe and get better results and flavor with it. Now stop reading and watch the video for some popcorn time.

Vet Ranch We Love You

Zoe is the biggest animal lover you will ever meet. Her passion for animals is deep and contagious. She always wants to help any way she can. When we went to the Tulsa Zoo she wanted to give them money to help with the lives of the special creatures.

She even has a local mentor that she looks up to, that is about saving dogs and cats. She has been wanting to donate money to Vet Ranch for a while so I encouraged her to do so because I knew it would make her happy to give. I matched her donation with money I make from my videos and store .

If you love or like animals you can check out their channel on YouTube here:

Garden Taste Test Challenge

The kids and I love to watch Good Mythical Morning and are inspired by the show. My daughter wanted to do a gardening version of the Will It Challenge that Rhett And Link do on their show. My ultimate goal was to get the picky eaters to try different foods from the garden even for only a moment.

They tried many different herbs, greens, and root vegetables including peppers and tomatillos. It was interesting to see how they reacted to different food items during each round.

Using A Tuning Fork On Tomatoes

After watching a video using a tuning fork on tomatoes, the Vegitate clan had to get one and try out in our garden. The 1st tuning fork was a complete bust and so back to eBay we went. We found a better deal and got one for 4.50 US dollars. It is in the note of C and has the number 128 inscribe on it. According to the post we read that is the best frequency to use to imitate bees. This works better in my opinion than using a electric tooth brush on your plants. By using this method on your flowers it will help increase your produce yields. Pollination is achieved by each tomato flower by resonating the flower on the plant just as a honey bee would.

You can find a tuning fork on the link below.

Hail Storm In The Garden

On April 29th 2016, Western Arkansas was hit a by a devastating hail storm. The storm blew thru the area within a few minutes and nailed our garden with golf ball hail stones. Our spring garden was damaged along with our seedlings. Our tomatoes took the brunt of the damage and hopefully they will come back.

Mother nature can be a bit of a unforgiving force.

WIND IS ESSENTIAL IN THE GARDEN

For plant starts to have the best chance at success you need the 4 main components from mother nature. However their is a 5th element that you might be over looking. You may have great grow lights and the richest of soils, perfect water and the best fertilizer how ever do not over look the 5th piece to the puzzle. WIND.

By providing a gentle breeze over you fresh seedlings you will get them to toughen up and grow a better stem to stand up once they get kicked out into the real world, aka the garden.

This year I learned that all important step by skipping that one step, I have always done it and now I know why I should continue to use a fan. My baby plants need it to give them the best 1st steps to be successful.
