Canning Party In The USA 2 – Cowboy Candy

Today we made Cowboy Candy from our Jalapenos. This sweet recipe is great for any dish you put it on. The sweet heat is great and easy to make with a simple sugar solution and 3 pounds of Jalapenos. If you have never tried Cowboy Candy give it a try.

Ingredients need:

3 pounds fresh jalapenos, washed
2 cups apple cider vinegar
6 cups granulated sugar
½ teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon celery seed
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper

Canning Party In The USA

On this episode we made some homemade salsa from our tomatoes from our urban garden. We had a canning party with three generations of family members. If you like to can have a canning party with family and friends it makes the process easier and fun. The kids cut up the tomatoes and onions with a vidalia chopper. I and grandpa did all the un-kid friendly duties. The recipe that we used is below.

8 Cups Tomatoes, Peeled, Chopped and drained
2 1/2 Cups onions, Chopped
10 Jalapeno Peppers
6 Garlic Cloves, Minced
2 Teaspoons Cumin
2 Teaspoons Black Pepper
2 Tablespoons Canning Salt
1/3 Cup Sugar
1/3 Cup Vinegar

1. Mix all together and bring to boil for 10 minutes.
2. Seal in jars and cook in hot water for 10 minutes.
3. Yields about 5 pints.
4. Enjoy
