Pest Control

Diatomaceous Earth: 3 Great Uses For Pets and Your Garden

Diatomaceous Earth also called “D.E.” is a white flour like powder that is the fossilized remains of diatoms. You can sprinkle it on bugs that are soft-bodied and/or has an exoskeleton, IE.. bed bugs, ants, aphids, and fleas destroying their outer layer so that their intestines come and they dry out from the inside out.

I use D.E every year to help keep the pests in my garden under control and also on the animals in my yard free of parasites.

By applying Diatomaceous Earth on your beloved pets you are going to save money and give them a organic healthy alternative instead of a chemical based pest control.

You can apply D.E straight to their fur coat to help with fleas, ticks, mosquitoes and biting flies. For internal bugs like Round Worms, Tape Worms, you can feed your dog or cats around a 5% mix. A 5% mix is about 1 tablespoon to 3-4 cups of dry pet food.

To help control pests in the garden you can use a leaf blower to help cover the plants with a fine dust of D.E. This method is easy to do and saves time. Place the dust in a pile about 2-3 feet from the vegetation and blow the product upwards. Best if done on cool morning just as dew is leaving and the leaves are still just sticky.
